Is this big change likely to happen?
http://www.bbc.com/earth/story/20150602-how-will-the-universe-end I read this article and it talks about a scenario where the universe might end. It’s called the big change( or possibly vacuum decay) and it talks about “Quantum physics dictates that even in a totally empty vacuum, there is a small amount of energy....

answers:
Huh? say: The odds are millions to one against it happening in the Universe's lifetime. On the bright side, if it does happen you'd never know a thing about it.
-
Jeffrey K say: It is true that a vacuum decay could happen, if the current vacuum is not in its ground state. But the vacuum has not decayed in 13 billion years so it is unlikely to decay any time soon - if ever.
-
Ronald 7 say: On the Balance of Probabilities anything could happen
I collect Nose Hair clippings

ReductioAdAstronomicus say: Notice the word "might" in the title of the article. Notice how most of those type of articles are titled with words like "might", "could be", "maybe". In other words the author knows diddly squat. Read those type of articles with the greatest skepticism.
-
say: No. This is 2015 article. Now it's 2019. Nothing happened and nothing will for millions and millions of years. You can live your life without caring about how universe will end -- our lives will end long before that
-
say: How many times are you going to ask this question? And more importantly when are you going to award Best Answers to the previous times you asked this question? If you award Best Answers, then you get some points back as well. You currently have no points, and you won't be able to post more than a limited number of questions until you get some points.

Paula say: We don't know
The "big change" is speculative.
It probably is not going to happen at all.

But if it does, we would never know it.
The universe would cease to exist before we knew it was happening
-
poldi2 say: This is one scenario discussed by cosmologists as one possible end - in about a trillion years time.
No, it will not happen in our lifetime.
-
Pearl say: only tirne will tell, we'll just have to wait and see
-
Acetek say: this is called a state change and if this were to happen it would propagate out from that point at the speed of light. and you wouldn't even see it coming.
it would obliterate the universe but it would take billions if not trillions of years

what is the likelihood of it happening. Unknown
