Is the Universe hiding something from us?

answers:
gregory_dittman say: Yes, including itself. We cannot see the whole universe and due to expansion, every moment more of the universe disappears from our view.
-
Manuel say: Probably.
-
Starrysky say: If it is, we don't know what yet.
Beyond a certain distance, light waves cannot travel fast enough to reach us, ever. That is because what emitted them is moving away from us so fast, due to the expansion of space between us and that unknowable region. We are in the "observable universe" region, which is just a part of the whole universe. So a part of the universe is hidden, and will always be so.
Even closer to us are black holes. They are part of the universe, but we cannot know what is inside them. Light, signals and information does not come out of them. So the inside of black holes are hidden from us.

Nick N. Ame say: Nothing is hidden, we are just looking in the wrong places for it.
-
Ronald 7 say: There is nothing hidden
We keep seeking it
-
quantumclaustrophobe say: It's hiding lots of stuff... but, we're slowly finding it...
-
MARK say: If it is we cannot know because they are hidden from us.
-
Nyx say: If it is hidden from us, then how would we know?
-
Kat say: All of the socks ever lost in the laundry.
-
Jeffrey K say: It is hiding a lot from us.
-
Jim say: It depends what you mean by hiding. It's not as if the Universe easily reveals its secrets to us.
Detection of distant galaxies requires powerful telescopes. Detection of nutrinos requires expensive arrays of photomultiplier tubes in deep underground caverns. Detection of Higg's boson and other exotic particles requires massive, multi-billion dollar particle accelerators.
-
WHANKING-WILLY say: It's hiding the truth. Simple.
-
CarolOklaNola say: The Universe is not hiding things from us intentionally. There is a lot s out the Universe we have not discovered yet. Most of us are totally blind to many parts if the universe. Light we can see is like being able to hear only one octave of sound. We almost blind and almost deaf. Watch a cat or dog. Watch their body language..They hear and see and smell things a lot better than we do.
