A less stringent explanation is that you have an overactive imagination but aren't properly sorting fantasy from reality in your memories. Or you dreamed them, and later got confused, or perhaps more plausibly experienced a hypnagogic hallucination during the transition from being awake to being asleep (or visa versa), thinking you were awake when you really weren't. The least likely explanation of all is that you were abducted by extraterrestrial beings. It's exponentially likelier, by several orders of magnitude, that you are mentally ill than an alien abductee.
