Comet Elenin, being a comet, has no magnetic field.
Comet Elenin is passing so far from us that most people will not see it, even if you tell them where to look for it. Those who do see it in binoculars, will see a faint fuzzy point.
That is how far the comet is.
Comet Elenin is not in the Bible. In fact, the Bible has nothing dealing with astronomy (except one reference to "Lucifer" by Peter, which is a reference to the planet Venus as seen in the morning).
Just make sure that you never, ever, rely on this guy. Especially if he tells you that he can help you invest your money.

I am wondering why anyone would think that any comet would have a "massive magnetic field"?
A comet is a ball of dust and ice and they are tiny compared to a planet.
The idea that the Earth's magnetic field might "flip" turns up every so often. The pseudoscience fringe that peddles books on UFOs and Atlantis likes the idea because it helps them sell books to people who want to believe that we are near the "end of days" and need to be saved by Space Brothers...

Comet Elenin is a particularly small comet. Even now, it appears to be braking up against solar wind. It has no detectable magnetic field. The guy at your church is either an idiot, the height of ignorance, or was just messing with you, a troll of the highest calibre.

Elenin has no magnetic field. It's composed of ice and dust.
That said, it seems to have elegantly revealed existing widespread brain damage in society.
>> What can I do to prepare?
Ideally, one shouldn't be a scientifically illiterate woo-woo. That will stave off hysteria rather nicely.

Stop listening to that 'guy'.
Elenin has little or no magnetic field.
It's mass is so much smaller then that of Earth, that even a direct impact
