and find places where they can safely winter over, usually under tree bark, leaf litter or underground burrows. They remain in a state of dormancy like hibernating, and become active again as the weather warms for the spring. There is a bit of a misconception that bugs and spiders may come in out of the cold with the onset of winter which is not entirely true.......
Do they all just die?

Many only live one season and die typically with the first frost of winter. They will lay eggs however that will survive the harsh winter and hatch in the early spring.
Many can live more than one season, and find places where they can safely winter over, usually under tree bark, leaf litter or underground burrows. They remain in a state of dormancy like hibernating, and become active again as the weather warms for the spring.
There is a bit of a misconception that bugs and spiders may 'come in out of the cold' with the onset of winter which is not entirely true. Arthropods are cold blooded critters and can care less about temperature. Most bugs and spiders you find indoors live in the ground beneath your house and simply find their way indoors. Others, especially spiders, have adapted to indoor living and live in crawl spaces, attics, voids in walls, cracks and crevices within the house. Being protected from the elements, they may be active all year round. Wind, rain, and drought may drive bugs and spiders from their natural homes and often seek shelter or water indoors. Having adapted to outdoor living, they don't survive well indoors and will try to leave or just die.

They go and find a place to hide, where they won't (hopefully) be found, and where they won't be frozen. Going underground (e.g. inside the tunnel of a mouse or prairie dog, for example, would be a good way to avoid both.

Spiders such as orb weavers, mainly live one season. Wolf spiders and brown recluses will retreat to hiding spaces and sometimes human homes. Dans answers is more accurate than this one but i just wanted to answer :P
