Are Nile Monitor Lizards dangerous

-YES.They are more high strung and nervous (generally) than water monitors.The loose monitor in CO is confused and trying to survive.It may be very tame.........
I've read on the news on Yahoo.that a Nile Monitor lizard escaped and is on the loose in Colorado. so Just wondered if they can hurt you. are poisonous.?

It may be very tame...they can develop keeper recognition so if you see it it is important to not panic or try to subdue it but to keep an eye on it while calling your animal control.

Yes they can be aggressive IF harassed, but are not poisonous. They can give a painful bite, but you probably wouldn't get close enough to them for them to bite you. because many large lizards can whip their tail at threats to keep them at a distance, and that could be worse than a bite. so just incase you do see it, just keep your distance and leave it alone. they are not dangerous unless you make yourself out to be a threat to them, there not like lions or tigers and they wont look at you as food or anything, so just let it be if you see it and call animal control.

They are not a threat to adult humans, but they can harm a kid. They have strong jaws, and sharp teeth, so they can inflict quite a wound, but they are not venomous.
