I need a formula that covers the amount of distance traveled at a certain MPH

[From: ] [author: ] [Date: 12-07-18] [Hit: ]
1.you are going 60 Miles in one hour.We need to change this toFeet per seconds.60 Minutes in one hour and 60 seconds in one minute.60 * 60 = 3600 seconds.So our speed of 60 MPH is actually 316800 Feet in 3600 seconds.......
i need to know how many seconds it would take to cover 528 feet at 60 mph

then i would like to to no how many seconds it would take to cover 528 at 30 Mph

The Distance Formula is quite Simple. Learned that in 6th Grade Math.

There are Three Factors. Speed, Time and Distance. You need two factors to find the third one.

Speed = Distance divided by Time
Time = Distance divided by Speed
Distance = Speed x Time

Now for your two problems:

1. you are going 60 Miles in one hour. We need to change this to Feet per seconds.

60 miles is (5280 Feet times 60) 316800 Feet

60 Minutes in one hour and 60 seconds in one minute. 60 * 60 = 3600 seconds.

So our speed of 60 MPH is actually 316800 Feet in 3600 seconds. OK so far??

Now set up a ratio and solve for the unknown.

316800 / 3600 = 528/X

Cross multiply and solve for X.

316800X = 1900800

X =
1 900 800 / 316 800 = 6

SIX Seconds to go 528 Feet at 60MPH.

Can you do the second one?

-
Speed = distance / time, therefore Time = distance / speed. Since your speed is in miles per hour, it would be sensible to convert 528 into miles, giving 0.1 miles. So, time = 0.1 / 60 = 0.001666... hours or 6 seconds

Use the same method for the second question

-
Try this:
Distance (in feet) = MPH * time (in seconds) * 5280 ft/mile / (3600 seconds / hour)

Or this:
Time (in seconds) = distance (in feet) * (3600 seconds / hr ) / [ MPH * 5280 ft/mile) ]

-
R=D/T

where R is rate (speed), D is distance, and T is time.

You would need to use common units, ie, change mph to feet per second.
