which truth is mind boggling?

Thats mind blowing in my opinion!-Wando say: People must have felt the same way the first time they realized these facts in their times but people take more interest in TIME as it makes people imagine about time travel and other stuffs internet and tv have glamorized. In these Newton vs Einstein debates, Newton is not nearly acknowledged as Einstein. Although the concepts of force and gravity may seem simple to you now but it was totally different story in 17th century. They assumed force to be the tendency to move things (which is not right,......
we do need to find if DOD & area 51 are hiding **** from us too.

Eden say: Second one, can you believe that speed can actually change time?! Two things that does not seem related at all actually have a physical connection! That's mind blowing in my opinion!

In these Newton vs Einstein debates, Newton is not nearly acknowledged as Einstein. Although the concepts of force and gravity may seem simple to you now but it was totally different story in 17th century. They assumed force to be the tendency to move things (which is not right, force exists even if objects are static) but they couldn't prove it or provide a proper explanation of it. Scientists of his era like Robert Hooke, Wern, Halley, Kepler.. they understood the phenomenon as existence of centripetal force and inverse square law but no proof or slightest explanation. They literally counted on Newton for explanation. Can you imagine that? They asked Newton to do something which they couldn't.. How on earth would you think that the force holding you on ground is responsible for the revolution of moon? That's philosophical thinking if you ask me. I believe Einstein is a bit over-rated. Did you know Henri Poincaré and Maxwell were very close to the same conclusion as Einstein's.

Andrew Smith say: The beauty of so much of Newton's work was that it was so simple. No one had thought of it before and only an incisive mind could recognize what might be possible.

Note that Newton actually did not show that gravity WAS responsible for the orbit. He said it MIGHT be responsible IF AND ONLY IF gravity reduced with increasing distance F is proportional to Mm/ r^2

He left that to Cavendish to demonstrate a lot later.

No one that I know of found Newton's work mind boggling. Even at the time.
It was GALILEO that suffered. The Pope did not like being told that he was wrong. ie the idea that the earth was moving and the sun did not move THAT was mind boggling.

So of your two "truths" ( actually hypotheses not truths ) Einstein's was more akin to Galileo's and much more mind boggling than Newtons.

Even today we get many people who cannot understand why we do not feel our rapid motion through space.
