Thanks so much!-((5150 x 24)/19.7) - 5150 = 1,124.1kg.1/2*5150*24^2=1/2*(5150+x)*19.......
A 5150 kg open train car is rolling on frictionless rails at 24.0 m/s when it starts pouring rain. A few minutes later, the car's speed is 19.7 m/s . Assume that the train car is rolling to the right (positive direction) before the rain begins.

A) What mass of water has collected in the car?

I entered one answer and was incorrect! please explain how to find this! Thanks so much!

-
((5150 x 24)/19.7) - 5150 = 1,124.1kg.

you can calculate using initial kinetic energy and final kinetic energy which is equal to friction less movement so
1/2*5150*24^2=1/2*(5150+x)*19.7^2

where x is mass of water
solving above equation you can calculate mass of water that has been collected
