If the mass is displaced 0.268 m from equilibrium and released, what is the total mechanical energy of the system?E = 1/2*k*s^2 = 1/2* 14.4*0.268^2 = 0.......
A 0.321 kg mass is attached to a spring with a force constant of 14.4 N/m.

If the mass is displaced 0.268 m from equilibrium and released, what is the total mechanical energy of the system?
E=_____J

thanks

Hello

the total mechanical energy is stored in the spring when it is displaced
The spring energy is
E = 1/2*k*s^2 = 1/2* 14.4*0.268^2 = 0.517 Nm
