I do because I've had experiences with one.

Primarily because I had a personal experience with at least one example of the phenomena we CALL "Ghosts".---While in a sane and sober state, in my own house under conditions that would negate trickery, illusion or hallucination--and at least 2 other people saw it too. It also affected physical matter--bumping into and moving a hanging lamp shade light fixture---suggesting it was an external real world event and not a mind phenomenon.---There was absolutely no doubt what it was--the unknown phenomena which we call "Ghosts".
Afterward, for decades, I have read and studied everything I can on the subject. I am also a Scientist, so I know how to approach new problems. I do not have the luxury of simply denying or ignoring the observation--besides it could be important in the understanding of advanced physics.
where the mechanism of such stuff may be rooted.
I have learned that these things have patterns, can be detected and measured . The phenomena also behaves and produces effects that are consistent with what would happen as a result in disturbances in advanced Physics involving Quantum Mechanics, parallel universe interactions and Relativity.
Of course there is no proof that these are actual "spirits of the dead"--that is only the old "folk explanation" for something that has been observed for thousands of years, but the phenomena itself that inspired the folk explanation is definitely real--we just do not know what it is yet.
Those that deny the existence of the phenomena, likely had no experiences with it, know nothing about how the real thing looks (if you do not read books on it how would you know?))Confuse the "folk explanation" or superstition with the objective phenomena itself or their "science" is stuck in the Pre-Einsteinian Physics of the early 1900s.----Of course much denial is on emotional grounds--people are frightened to death of the idea.. You can tell them by how they are very opinionated about how "ghosts do not exist,, but NEVER explaining WHY they do not believe in them.
