For some reason my light switch is broken and the light wont turn off even when I move the switch up and down, and I'm using a lot of electricity, so i'm going to unscrew the light bulb until I can figure out whats wrong. If I unscrew it with it still on, will I get electrocuted? How should I take it out?

Not if you only touch the bulb and not anything made of metal. The bulb is glass and won't conduct electricity so it is safe to handle. As noted, it may be hot. The safest approach is to just get a screw in socket with a pull cord switch. This goes between the original socket and the bulb. It will enable you to turn off the light even though the wall switch is broken. An empty socket which is live is a shock hazard and a bulb half screwed in can also shock you if you touch any of the metal on the bulb.

When you take it out, only touch the glass part. Don't contact the metal, and there is almost no chance of you being electrocuted. I like what that other guy said with the sock, too. Just take it out; it will turn off as soon as the contact is broken.

Use a dry cloth to unscrew the hot bulb, and try to use only one hand. If you use two hands you could create a circuirt and get shocked if something was wrong. Unlikely, but you never know.

no it will be fine, but it will be hot, use a sock to take it out

Lol, no

I did it and my family said I fainted and I ended up with a really bad mark
