When should I chose the type of doctor I want to be

I know 100 % that i would like to be a physician in the Columbus, Ohio > Dublin, Ohio > or Upper Arlington, Ohio because helping people is my passion! I was just wondering when should i decide what kind of doctor that I want to be; in my 4 undergraduate years being Pre-Medical, or once I get into a medical school? Any accurate answers will be appreciated !

The best time to figure this out would be in med school, in the 3rd or 4th year. During this time you will rotate through the different specialties. Through "on the job" exposure, you'll have a better idea of what happens with each specialty. Sometimes, what you thought you wanted to be no longer attracts you. Sometimes, when going through a certain rotation, one of the supervising doctors may tell you that you should consider that specialty. Of course, at the end of med school, there is "Match Day" when you find out which hospitals will accept you as a resident - unfortunately, not everyone will get their first match, and on occasion you may not be accepted into the specialty you wanted.

In the US I believe that you make that decision towards the end of medical school. Any decision before then will be ill-informed as you won't have experienced the different specialties.
