Thyroid controls body metabolism(stamina, fatigue, body heat, mood) but also calcium and bone health. She will take thyroid medication, but hopefully she will get a t3/t4 mixture, not the only T4 pills. She may need to have her corticosteroid levels monitored and might become more prone to arthritis. It is possible to live a long life on medication.

The pill she takes is hormone placment, if she did not take these pills here imune systm would not work properly. Thy thyroid produce's hormones (not sure which ones) but it's a bit like the pancrea not producing insulin any more in diabetic's type 1 and so needing to insulin (a hormone) for the rest of there life
