How do i turn this into slope intercept form

[From: ] [author: ] [Date: 13-02-16] [Hit: ]
on the right side, we can erase the 0. The 0 is only written if its the only thing on one side, by itself.Now, we have -Y on the left side.......
So basically how do i turn this 2x -Y - 4 = 0 equation into its slope intercept form

Thank you!

slope intercept form is: y=mx+b with m being the slope and b being the y-intercept.

Your equation is this:

2X-Y-4=0

First move everything away from the Y:

When something moves to the other side, its sign MUST CHANGE:

-Y=0-2X+4

See? I changed the sign of the 2x from positive to negative; I changed the sign of the 4 from negative to positive.

Now, on the right side, we can erase the 0. The 0 is only written if its the only thing on one side, by itself. Otherwise it's not written:

-Y=-2X+4

Now, we have -Y on the left side. We are looking for Y on the left side. To get Y on the left side, we must divide the other side by -1 because -Y is the same as -1Y:

Y=(-2x+4)/-1
Y=2X-4

So, your equation in slope intercept form is:

Y=2X+4

That's with a positive slope of 2 and Y=4 y-intercept.

You just need to rewrite the equation
I would just move y to the other side

2x - 4 = y

Now just reverse the equation so it looks better

y = 2x -4

You're done!!
