here is how you solve the 1st one
1) b(x) = 199 = 2x^2 - 1
so
199 = 2x^2 - 1 now add 1 to both side (bs)
199 + 1 = 2x^2 - 1+ 1
200 = 2x^2 now divide bs by 2
200/2 = 2x^2/2
100 = x^2 now take the square root
sqrt(100) = sqrt(x^2)
10 = x
so now that you saw this one try the other 2 the answers are as follows
2) 2.5
3) 1/2
1) b(x) = 199 = 2x^2 - 1
so
199 = 2x^2 - 1 now add 1 to both side (bs)
199 + 1 = 2x^2 - 1+ 1
200 = 2x^2 now divide bs by 2
200/2 = 2x^2/2
100 = x^2 now take the square root
sqrt(100) = sqrt(x^2)

so now that you saw this one try the other 2 the answers are as follows
2) 2.5
3) 1/2

1. B(x)= 199
2x^2 -1 = 199
2x^2 = 199+1 = 200
x^ 2= 100
x + +/- 10
2. k(x) = -2.5
-3x/2 + 5 = -2.5
-3/2 x = -2.5 - 5 = -7.5
x = -2/3 * -7.5
= 15/3
= 5
3. b(x) = - 1/2
2x^2 -1 = -1/2
2x^2 = 1/2
x^2 = 1/4
x = +/- 1/2
2x^2 -1 = 199
2x^2 = 199+1 = 200
x^ 2= 100
x + +/- 10
2. k(x) = -2.5
-3x/2 + 5 = -2.5
-3/2 x = -2.5 - 5 = -7.5
x = -2/3 * -7.5
= 15/3
= 5
3. b(x) = - 1/2
2x^2 -1 = -1/2
2x^2 = 1/2
x^2 = 1/4
x = +/- 1/2
