To get the complement just subtract 39 right from 90.Now you have to borrow 1 deg right from 90.Dont forget 1 deg = 60 min-Two Angles are Supplementary if they add up to 180 degrees.Two Angles are Complementary if they add up to 90 degrees (a Right Angle). They dont have to be next to each other, just so long as the total is 90 degrees.......
my trig hw is asking to find the complement and supplement of the angle of given measure and in this case it says 39degrees 50'?
I really need help :(

Hello lingo's girl, complementary angles would have their sum as 90 and same way supplementary angles would have their sum as 180.
A is complement to B since A+B = 90
C is supplement to D as C+D = 180
Now question: What is the complement of 39 deg?
To get the complement just subtract 39 right from 90.
So the needed is 51 deg
But in your home work the angle given is 39 deg 50 minutes
So complement = 90 - 39 deg 50 min
Now you have to borrow 1 deg right from 90. 1 deg equals to 60 min
So subtracting 50 from 60 we get 10 min
After borrowing 1 from 90 we have only 89
Now from 89 we have take off 39 which gives 50
Hence the complement to 39 deg 50 min is 50 deg 10 min
Don't forget 1 deg = 60 min

Two Angles are Supplementary if they add up to 180 degrees.

Two Angles are Complementary if they add up to 90 degrees (a Right Angle). They don't have to be next to each other, just so long as the total is 90 degrees.

There are 60 minutes in 1 degree and 60 seconds in a minute.

Complementary angle = 90 - 39 degrees 50' = 50 degrees 10' ANSWER

Supplementary angle = 180 - 39 degrees 50' = 140 degrees 10' ANSWER

Complementary means they add up to 90 degrees and supplementary means they add up to 180 degrees. Therefore, 90 - 39degrees50 = 50degrees10" and 180 - 39.50 = 140degrees 10"

Complementary = 90 - 39 50' = 50 deg 10'
Supplementary = 180 - 39 50' = 140 deg 10'
