the number by subtracting each of his digit from 9.

Next, ask him to add all the number and he gets 257834

Show him the number which you had written as an answer
to this addition earlier in the folded paper and surprise him.

Every x value must have exactly one y value associated with it. This means a graph of a function will pass the vertical line test. To pass the vertical line test it must be impossible to draw a vertical line that passes through more that one point on the curve.

Here is a system of points (x,y) that is a function:
(1,1),(2,2),(3,3),(4,4),(5,5)

Put it into a table and you've got your table for the question.

Now just for the hell of it let's look at one that isn't a function:
(1,1),(2,2),(3,3),(5,4),(5,5)

Note that x=5 has two y values associated with it 4 and 5. This means it's not a function.

For the graph portion, graph:

y = x^2

For the equation portion:

y = √x

Will work.
