The altitude is 8 units long and the slope of one leg is 5/12. What is the length of the base? Thanks for you help, Im really stuck!-2*96/5 = 192/5 = 38.4units-u r welcome.......
To reconstruct the problem:
Draw an isoceles triangle. (so the legs are congruent) Draw an altitude from the top corner to the base, (intersecting at two right angles). This altitude is also a median (the two segments it splits the base into are congruent). The altitude is 8 units long and the slope of one leg is 5/12. What is the length of the base? Thanks for you help, I'm really stuck!
