The world around us is bound by mathematics. Anything you do today involved math, even as i type this, my ipad is using a mathematical algorithm to process the letters put here. It depends what type of math you stress for your degree like computer math, physics, chemistry, business, etc. The possibilities are endless! Please pursue this interest, it is a wonderful thing and will give you a GREAT future. Even plants have math bound in them, a little thing called fibonacci sequence! You pretty much can do ANYTHING with a phd in mathematics, but your job will depend on what area of mathematics you pursue!

Best of luck,
TS

First, learn to do the math and do it quickly and correctly. Then look for a job in a field you like. When I was in college, we got letters all the time from engineering schools and firms, business schools and firms, asking that send them our math graduates. They always stated it was easier to teach engineering, chemistry, finance, etc to mathematicians than to teach math to engineers, businessmen, chemists, etc. Learn the math ad the rest will sort itself out.

you can be an actuarie.
actuarial science is the discipline that applies mathematical and statistical methods to assess risk in the insurance and finance industries. it's relatively new science. at the university i study in, this the first semester they include a major of actuarial science.

"In 2010, a study published by job search website CareerCast ranked actuary as the #1 job in the United States (Needleman 2010). The study used five key criteria to rank jobs: environment, income, employment outlook, physical demands, and stress. A similar study by U.S. News & World Report in 2006 included actuaries among the 25 Best Professions that it expects will be in great demand in the future (Nemko 2006)."

They solve equations. Exactly what is says on a tin. It depends what type of business they are involved in. You can have Mathematicians teaching in a physics lab, NASA, larger haulage corporations, working for someone that's designing a building.

If it requires an extensive amount of mathematical calculations that's what they'll do.

A pure mathematician, at least, spends their time trying to prove theorems. If you've had geometry, then you've experienced rigorous proofs (sort of).
