Math Homework help: (x+2) - (3x - 2) = 10 +3 | What is x

[From: ] [author: ] [Date: 11-11-17] [Hit: ]
3(4y - 1) - 2 = 8 - 5.8What is y?And..........
One-step Multiplication and Division.

Also, if you could answer this,:

3(4y - 1) - 2 = 8 - 5.8 What is y?

And....

8w - (6w - 5) = 1 What is w?

(x+2) - (3x - 2) = 10 +3
Distribute the negative sign to the (3x - 2) and remove all the parenthesis:
x + 2 - 3x + 2 = 10 + 3
Add the common variables on the both sides:
4 - 2x = 13
Subtract 4 from both sides:
-2x = 9
Divide both sides by -2:
x = -9/2 or -4.5

3(4y - 1) - 2 = 8 - 5.8
Distribute the 3 to the (4y - 1):
12y - 3 - 2 = 8 - 5.8
Add the common variables on both sides:
12y - 5 = 2.2
Add 5 to both sides:
12y = 7.2
Divide both sides by 12:
y = 7.2/12 or 0.6

8w - (6w - 5) = 1
Distribute the negative sign to the (6w - 5):
8w - 6w + 5 = 1
Add the common variables on the left side:
2w + 5 = 1
Subtract 5 from both sides:
2w = -4
Divide both sides by 2:
w = -2

Hope this helps!
