The straight line passing through point p(2,1) and point q(k,11) has gradient -5/12
(a) find the equation of the line in terms of x and y only.
(b) determine the value of K.
could anyone show their method with the answer, thanks in advance:)

The equation for a lien formula is (Y-Y1) = m(X-X1). so for a it's (Y-1) = (-5/12)(X-2)
For b you plug the y value for y into the equation from part a and plug k in for the x value
(11-1) = (-5/12)(k-2)
10 = -5/12k + 10/12
56/6 = -5/12 k
k = -22
For b you plug the y value for y into the equation from part a and plug k in for the x value
(11-1) = (-5/12)(k-2)
10 = -5/12k + 10/12
56/6 = -5/12 k
k = -22
