Write the equation of the line which passes through (5, –2) and is parallel to x = 4. (1 point) if you know it please help me :P
-
line equetion in general is
y = mx + b
x =5 , Y = -2
-2 = m * 5 + b
5m + b +2 =0 b= -2 - 5m
while with x =4
-2 = m * 4 + b
4m +b + 2 = 0
4m + (-2 - 5m) +2 =0
4m -2-5m + 2 =0
m= 0 ......b= -2
the equation will be
Y = 0 - 2
so Y = -2.......& x= 5
y = mx + b
x =5 , Y = -2
-2 = m * 5 + b
5m + b +2 =0 b= -2 - 5m
while with x =4
-2 = m * 4 + b
4m +b + 2 = 0
4m + (-2 - 5m) +2 =0
4m -2-5m + 2 =0
m= 0 ......b= -2
the equation will be
Y = 0 - 2
so Y = -2.......& x= 5

x=4 is a vertical line. What do you think the vertical line through (5, –2) is? You should be able to do this easily.
-
x = 5

x = 5
