Hi, I don't understand how to do these SHSAT math questions. Please help me! Please check back frequently, I might have added some questions I might have about how to solve it. And also please explain clearly how you got the answer. Thank you so much!
1. Abe can mow the lawn in 15 min. Ben can mow the lawn in 20 min. Carl can mow the lawn in 30 min. They work together for 5 min. What part of the lawn was mowed?

For the first question Ricks is right. I was going to tell you my way but you have to do more conversions, his way is a lot quicker.

so our equation looks like this so far: A= (1/2)8*h. We need to find h.
We can draw a line representing h, forming a 45-45-90 triangle. This is a special triangle which has the general format which you can see if you google 'special triangles'. Since AB= 2 root 2, h=2.
A= (1/2)8*2
A=8, so the answer is B. 8
3. You start off with a cube with l=1, h=1, w=1
you end up with a cube of l=1, h=(1/8), and w= 8
I know w=8 because the volume is constant. V=lwh, 1*1*1= 1*(1/8)*8
So to find the area of the top of the rectangular solid, we do A=LW
A=1*8
A=8
so our answer is E. 8 sq ft
