Is √a²÷∛3 positive or negative (a≠0)

[From: ] [author: ] [Date: 11-10-08] [Hit: ]
Note that √(a²) = |a|---this is by definition of the radical symbol √.(Dont believe anyone who tells you it could be either!......
Positive root of a-square yields absolute value of a. So, what do you think the answer is? ;)

Edit: @CitizenX, That's a positive root. =.= you're thinking of a-square=4, giving +or- roota.

It could be either depending on a. sqrt(a^2) = +/- a
cubic root of three is positive so the result of the division depends on the sign of a to determine whether it is positive or negative.

The answer I gave is wrong. Sorry. Sqrt(a^2) is of course always positive. My apologies :) Thanks for the correction TP2010.

Of course positive...Guys..
√a²must be positive
and ∛3 is certainly positive

It is always positive (a ≠0). Note that √(a²) = |a|---this is by definition of the radical symbol √.

(Don't believe anyone who tells you it could be either!)
