The two lines are: Choose one answer. a. parallel b. the same line c. have the same slope d. perpendicular e.......
The slope of one line is 5/3.
The slope of another line is 10/6.
The two lines are:

Choose one answer.
a. parallel
b. the same line
c. have the same slope
d. perpendicular
e. none of these

And this one...

Two lines that are perpendicular have ________________.

Choose one answer.

a. none of these
b. the same x-intercept
c. slopes that are negative reciprocals
d. the same y-intercept
e. the same slopes

AND PLEASE SHOW WORK!!!

Look at the slopes of 5/3 and 10/6.
5/3 is as simplified as you can get but 10/6 can be simplified a little more. dividing both the top and the bottom by 2 you get 5/3. So the slopes are the same. Which means they can be parallel, the same line, and have the same slope. You cannot prove that they are the same line without more information so cross that one out. While, they do have the same slope I feel that the best answer would be parallel because parallel lines do have the same slope.

Perpendicular. Parallel lines have the same slope but to find a slope of a line is perpendicular to the original line you take the slope and flip it and change the sign. So if the for instance you have a line y=3x + 8 the slope is 3 and to find the slope of the line perpendicular to the Original line (y=3x +8) you take 3 and flip it giving you 1/3 and change the sign giving you -1/3.

1. C: have the same slope

10/6 is the same number as 5/3. 10/6 = 1.6667, and 5/3 = 1.6667. Therefore, the slopes are the same. It can not be determined whether or not they are the same line or parallel because no other info is given about the y intercepts, so the correct answer is that they simply have the same slopes.

2. C: slopes that are negative reciprocals

(the scales aren't equal, but the lines are indeed perpendicular - and hang on to this website. it is an amazing graphing calculator, and it is 100% free and easy to use!)
