    x⁴ + x² + 1
= x⁴ + 1 + x²
= (x² + 1)² - 2x² + x²            ← Note: x⁴ + 1 = (x² + 1)² - 2x²
= (x² + 1)² - x²                       ← Notice that this is the difference of squares
= [(x² + 1) + x]·[(x² + 1) - x]            ← Factored the difference of squares
= (x²+x+1)(x²-x+1)                  ← ANSWER
