what is a coefficient? do you know?

Coefficient is a term used in mathematics a lot. It's a fancy name for the number that goes before the variables (usually "x"s) in the formula.
For example if you had a formula 2x^2 + 3x + 1 = 0 then the coefficients would be the "2" (before the x^2) and "3" (before the x).
The last number - "1" - is NOT a coefficient as it does not involve an "x" in the formula. It is called a constant.

The coefficient of a term in an expression is the number which is multiplied by one or more variables or powers of variables in the term. It's basiclly the number after the variable.
