2/ y-5 = 3/ y+6
2/y+ -5 = 3/ y+6 (I changed it to addition)
30 [2/ y+-5] = 30 [3/ y+6] (I think the LCD is 30)
12/ y+ -1 = 15/ y+1 (I canceled out the 30 with the denominators)
This is where I'm stuck.
What am I supposed to do next?
I am failing math right now, so I'm trying to make this perfect.

well, I don't think you started it right, you can simply do cross multiplication, they will both lead to the same step, but this is simpler, like that....
2/ y-5 = 3/ y+6
2y+12 = 3y-15
12+15 = 3y - 2y
y = 27
2/ y-5 = 3/ y+6
2y+12 = 3y-15
12+15 = 3y - 2y
y = 27
