-1.There are two ways to do this.Thus slope = -3/4 and y-intercept is (0,Given equation, ax + by = c, slope m = -a/b and y-intercept b = c/b.......
3x + 4y = -24 We got slope = -3/7 y-intercept= -24/7

2y = 8 We got slope = 0 and the y-intercept = 4

y= -3/4x -8 slope =-3/4 and y-intercept is -8

Did we get this correct? Are we doing it properly? Thank you!

1. 3x + 4y = -24

There are two ways to do this.

a) slope-intercept form
3x + 4y = -24 iff
4y = -3x - 24 iff
y = -3/4 - 6

Thus slope = -3/4 and y-intercept is (0, -6)

b) standard form
Given equation, ax + by = c, slope m = -a/b and y-intercept b = c/b.

3x + 4y = -24
a = 3, b = 4, and c = -24

Thus slope = -3/4 and b = -24/4 = -6 so y-intercept is (0, -6)

2. 2y = 8 iff
y = 4

Whenever you have the equation in the form y = y1, it's going to be a horizontal line, so the slope = 0. It will pass through (0, y1) on the y-axis.

Thus for this equation, slope = 0 and the y-intercept is (0, 4).

3. y = -3/4 x - 8
This is in slope-intercept form. So,
slope = -3/4 and y-intercept is (0, -8).

-
3x + 4y = -24 meaning that you subtract 3x from each side...
4y = -24 - 3x you divide 4 from each side to get the slope and intercept form, so...
y = -6 - 3/4x slope = -3/4 and y-intercept = -6

the other questions you got right. keep up the good work!

-
3x + 4y = -24 We got slope = -3/7 y-intercept= -24/7

this one is incorrect !

3x + 4y = - 24

solve for y:

y = - (3/4)x - 6

the slope is: m = - 3/4
the y-intercept is: (0, - 6)

you should show your work.

-
m=-3/4
y-intercept=(0,-6)
