How do I subtract a percentage from an existing figure? such as 30% from 50

I am going into 6th grade and I want to be ahead, but really I've got no clue how to do this. Please help in an easy to understand answer!!! Thanks!!!

First you need to calculate what 30% of 50 is. To do this simply multiply by .3 then subtract the answer from 50.

.3x50=15

50-15=35

your question makes no sense you cant do that because you wanna subtract 30% of what from 50 you can just subtract 30% because that ambiguous you need a percentage of a number
