I hear of people dying fro allergic reactions to anesthesia...
If you are not allergic to IV sedation, does that mean you are also not allergic to other kinds?
Im nervous...

True "allergic reactions" are exceedingly rare. The reactions that kill people are almost never allergic. They tend to be genetic (such as malignant hyperthermia), or exaggerated effects that occur with the medications we use.
For general anesthesia, we use a mixture of drugs. Which particular drugs you get depends on a lot of things, like your medical history, the procedure, the anesthesiologist's preferences, and what is available at that facility.
ALL of the drugs we use can cause effects that might be harmful. Most of the drugs can stop or depress your breathing. Most of them depress your heart and lower your blood pressure. There are also a crapload of side effects, like nausea and vomiting and itching and shaking and so on. We know about all this, and we take precautions to prevent the bad stuff.
It's normal to be nervous, but realize that we do this every day, and we are well trained. We know how to keep even the sickest patients safe. You will do fine.

People who die from "allergic reactions" to anesthesia tend to have complicated procedures in surgery centers and doctors offices, such as plastic surgery.
ANY "allergic reaction" such as airway constriction, which is a true allergic reaction, which I actually recently saw after a surgery, can be perfectly managed in a hospital with an ICU and ventilator for a short time.

if youre not allergic to anesthesia or have no family history of other family members having an allergic reaction .. then you should have no problems with GA
But you should still talk to your anesthesiologist on your case .. because even if youre not allergic, there are some medications used during anesthesia induction that some people are allergic to .. ask him what all the meds are and to review them with you before hand
good luck !

There are many different types of anesthetic agents. Just because you are not allergic to one type doesn't mean you won't be allergic to a different type.
IV sedation and general anesthesia are very different.
Talk to your anesthesiologist about any concerns.
