Can i possibly get some help to find the vertices, the foci and the center of the following graph:
(x+1)^2 /16 - (y-3)^2 /9 = 1...............?
(x+1)^2 /16 - (y-3)^2 /9 = 1...............?
-
This is not an ellipse:)
Because of the minus sign, it is an hyperbola.
Horizontal Hyperbola, since x is first
center (-1, 3)
a= sqr(16)=4
b= sqr(9)=3
Vertices ( -5,3) and (3,3) ...4 units right and left from the center.
c^2=a^2+b^2=25, c=5
Foci are 5 units from center, foci( -6,3) and (4,3)
Hoping this helps!
