I thought South Dakota was mostly flat land

So for the longest time I've always thought that South Dakota was mostly just flat land and wide open prairies...but after looking at recent pictures, it looks very mountainous. Is this true?

Are you sure you were looking at South Dakota? Cause there's definitely no mountains. You might have been looking at pictures of the Badlands or Black Hills. Other than that most of South Dakota is pretty flat farm land.
