The aim of the DCR category was to give support to the local PV module manufacturing companies. However, it has led to a dispute between the US and India; US has challenged India in WTO saying that the DCR category is discriminatory.Hoep that helps!......
JNNSM stands for Jawaharla Nehru National Solar Mission.

It is one of the eight missions undertaken by the Government of India under the National Action Plan for Climate Change (NAPCC). It was launched in January 2010 by Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh and is one of the major global initiatives undertaken to promote the use of solar energy; it aims to commission 22,000MW by 2022, which is when India turns 75!

Its stated aim is to achieve grid parity through:
- Large scale utilization, rapid diffusion, and deployment at a scale which leads to cost reduction
- R&D, pilot projects, and technology demonstration
- Local manufacturing and support infrastructure

JNNSM Phase-I (Batch-I and Batch-II) were completed earlier. Recently, bidding for Phase-II Batch-I took place. In this batch, bidding took place for 750 MW in two categories: 375 MW in open category and 375 MW in DCR (Domestic Content Requirement) category.

In the open category, components from any company in the world can be used. In the DCR category however, PV modules have to used from Indian companies; other components can be from any company in the world. The aim of the DCR category was to give support to the local PV module manufacturing companies. However, it has led to a dispute between the US and India; US has challenged India in WTO saying that the DCR category is discriminatory.

Hoep that helps!
