I I totally agree with you. 40 years ago, man was walking on the Moon. Now, we are stuck in Low-Earth Orbit with the International Space Station. NASA says it will land astronauts on an asteroid by 2025, and Mars sometime in the 2030's, and I cannot wait to see it happen. But when Kennedy announced America was going to the moon "before this decade is out", the whole of the USA focused it's attention on getting man there before the Russians. Since NASA announced it's plans for the future of spaceflight, people have been asking "is it really worth the billions of dollars we pay"? It absolutely is worth it.
It really annoys and upsets me that people have this attitude. People seem to think "we've been there, done that", without realising how important space exploration is to humans. For thousands of years, humans have looked up at the stars and wondered what's out there, where did we come from, and where are we going. Exploring space will provide these answers, maybe not this decade, perhaps not even this century, but it will happen.
