Is The World Really Going To End? Please help!

Is the world going to end in 2012? Im really scared! please no jokes and trying to make me even more scared! It would be great if someone could show me some proof that it wont end! Im really worried!

The myth stemmed from the Mayan long count calendar. It was designed as a linear calender and not infinitely cyclical. In other words, it had to have an end due to its design.
It wasn't until relatively recently that scholars started to interpret this as something sinister. The idea of apocalypse on this date started with Michael Coe in 1966, and others jumped on the bandwagon.

Other than his 'story out of thin air', there is no suggestion that the date would have held any other significance to the Mayans other than a day for celebration as an important event.

Even amongst all these modern theories of the end of the world, there is conflict as to whether this means a literal end in fiery apocalypse, or a metaphorical end as in the start of a new period of human history.

The World was supposed to end on may 12 a few years ago, it didn't. It was supposed to end June 12 this year and it didn't. and it was supposed to end october 12 this year. Now they say it will end in 2012. I think people are just trying to hate the number 12. There is no scientific proof of the world ending, so it won't happen

No. Here's the simple answer:
The reason people think the World will end in 2012 is due to the Mayan calender.
Supposedly, the Mayans predicted the World would end in 2012.
But they didn't predict Cortez. Cortez wiped out the Mayans and ended their World.
If they couldn't predict Cortez and the spanish, they have no credibility to predict 2012.
So it's all a myth.
