Do geologists work alone or in groups

but I like science and the subject area.-Usually in groups but they can work alone-Geologists are very gregarious and usually are found in the company of others especially at feeding time.-As many areas of geologic interest are rather remote, working alone in the field would be something of a safety issue.........
I am an undergraduate geology student and I am not a fan of working in groups or with others to say the least. Based on my limited knowledge it seems like when you get a job you are working group style more so then other professions. I am thinking about changing my major to I.T. but I like science and the subject area.
