Do geologists work alone or in groups

I am an undergraduate geology student and I am not a fan of working in groups or with others to say the least. Based on my limited knowledge it seems like when you get a job you are working group style more so then other professions. I am thinking about changing my major to I.T. but I like science and the subject area.

Usually in groups
but they can work alone

Geologists are very gregarious and usually are found in the company of others especially at feeding time.

As many areas of geologic interest are rather remote, working alone in the field would be something of a safety issue... particularly anywhere where polar bears might eat you.
