Difficulty understand a(geometry) 'POINT' and 'Distance' in physics/mathematics

The centre of a circle is a point for example. You could mark it with a pencil dot.But of course under a microscope,a pencil dot is a big splodge; the centre itself is just a precise position which cant be represented by an object that has an actual size - thats why a point is dimensionless. If a point moves, it would trace out a path; this is a line.......
A point is
-A dimensionless geometric object having no properties except location.

My brain cant seem to comprehend this can anyone help ?i think because its dimensionless that it gets me

Also distance is the extent or the amount of space between two objects , does that mean a line with zero width going from one to point to the other , how can a line have zero width and no length, then that would take up no space so why say distance is the amount of space between two objects its weird i know, someone help...

Just think of a point as an exact position. The centre of a circle is a point for example. You could mark it with a pencil 'dot'. But of course under a microscope,a pencil dot is a big splodge; the centre itself is just a precise position which can't be represented by an object that has an actual size - that's why a point is dimensionless.

If a point moves, it would trace out a path; this is a 'line'. It has no thickness but it does have a length; you could lay a piece of string over the line and get the length from the string's length.

Distance between 2 points is represented by the length of a straight line (the shortest path) between the 2 points.

Don't know f that helps or not!

I always think about a point as the most specific descriptor of a place I can get. For example, right now I looked at my shelf - it has a corner. The edges of the shelf are like lines - they don't _really_ exist, but they describe the edge of the self. The lines meet at the corner of the shelf. That corner is like a point, the only place where all the lines meet _exactly_. I hope this helps... the "dimension-less" part really doesn't mean anything except that it's not 2D (like a flat surface) or 3D (like the world we live in).

Hope this helps.
