How would you balance that equation?
So far I have:
CuCl2 + Na2S -> CuS + NaCl2
Please help!

copper takes a +2 or +1 charge (loses 1 or 2 electrons), and it generally keeps whatever charge it had before
sodium takes a +1 charge (loses 1 electron)
chlorine takes a -1 charge (takes 1 electron)
sulfur takes a -2 charge (takes 2 electrons)
so:
cu2+ + 2cl- + 2na+ + S2- --> Cu2+ + s2- + na+ + cl-
or, cucl2 + na2s --> cus + nacl
there are 2 cls and 2 nas on the left hand side, so it's 2nacl
there are 1 cu and 1 s on the left hand side, so it's 1cus
which means that it's:
CuCl2 + Na2S --> CuS + 2NaCl
sodium takes a +1 charge (loses 1 electron)
chlorine takes a -1 charge (takes 1 electron)
sulfur takes a -2 charge (takes 2 electrons)
