Add back in any spectator ions. D. Add the two half-reactions to show the overall redox equation. E. Use a coefficient to make the number of electrons lost equal the number of electrons gained.-Not exactly sure what you are asking.......
A.
Determine the oxidation numbers for the elements.
B.
Balance the atoms and charges.
C.
Add back in any spectator ions.
D.
Add the two half-reactions to show the overall redox equation.
E.
Use a coefficient to make the number of electrons lost equal the number of electrons gained.

Not exactly sure what you are asking. There are a number of steps to balancing an oxidation 1/2 rxn. I suppose the nearest that comes to an answer is B.
