I have:
1-chloro-3 methylpentane for the primary sites on either end of the pentane chain
2-chloro-3methylpentane for the secondary sites
3-chloro-3methylpentane fore the tertiary bond
I am unsure how to name it when the chlorine bonds to the methyl atom on the 3 carbon. is it 3-methylchloropentane?

The name of the last compound would be:
3-(chloromethyl)pentane
it is the same approach you would use to name trifluoromethyl groups (CF3).
I hope this helped.
