the earth is 1,083,210,000,Thanks!-1 mole = 6.......
So I have a project and I have no idea what it's about :'(

So he said we had to have a thing (for example a can of soup. Which is what I am using.) and how many of this other thing can fill it up.

What I chose was: How many earths (Volume-wise) can fill a mol of a can of progressos soup (12 oz.) I'm very confused. I know I have to have the unit conversion thing but I don't know where to start. Does this make sense?

By the way, the earth is 1,083,210,000,000 km^3
Thanks!

1 mole = 6.022x10^23 of anything.. true?

1 mole of soup cans = 6.022x10^23 soup cans
1 mole of shoes = 6.022x10^23 shoes
1 mole of methane molecules = 6.022x10^23 methane molecules
1 mole of donuts = 6.022x10^23 donuts

mole is just like a dozen except the number is different..
1 dozen donuts = 12 donuts
1 dozen methane molecules = 12 methane molecules
1 dozen shoes = 12 shoes
1 dozen soup cans = 12 soup cans

make sense?

****************
so..
1 mole soup cans x (6.022x10^23 cans / mole of cans) x (12 oz / can) x (1 gal / 128oz) x (3.785 L / gal) x (1m³ / 1000L) x (1km / 1000m)³ x (1 earth / 1.083x10^12 km³) = 0.197 earths

now if you want to reverse that..
1 earth x (1 mole soup cans / 0.197 earths) = 5.07 moles of soup cans

************
ie..
0.197 Earths fills 1 mole of soup cans
1 earth can fill 5.07 moles of soup cans.

the math is dimensional analysis. I suggest you read my answer here and learn the method

what if I said... how many 2L pop bottles would fill 3 dozen 12 ounce cans?

3 dozen cans x (12 cans / dozen) x (12 oz / can) x (1 gal / 128oz) x (3.785L / gal) x (1 pop bottle / 2L) = 6.54 bottles

notice that
3 dozen cans x (12cans / dozen) = 36 cans

same idea

1 mole soup cans x (6.022x10^23 soup cans / mole soup cans) = 6.022x10^23 soup cans

likewise..
2 moles soup cans x (6.022x10^23 soup cans / mole soup cans) = 12.044x10^23 soup cans.

dozen and mole and pair and gross and bakers dozen.. are all VERY similar concepts
