O in moles is 16.0 grams and there's 6.02 * 10 /\23 atoms in it, but when asked for one mole of O2 ( in grams) why is it 32.0 grams because that would mean that there's 2 * 6.02 * 10 /\23 atoms in it. I mean the definition for mole is the amount of any substance containing as many particles as there are carbon atoms in exactly 12 g of the carbon- 12 isotope. Please help!

a mole of Oxygen atom (O) has mass of 16g
while a mole of oxygen molecules (O2) has a mass of 32g (molecular mass is 16 x 2)
A mole of oxygen atom has 6.02 x 10^23 particles also a mole of oxygen molecules has that amount. I hope this helps a bit
