Goliath bird-eating spiders have a leg span of around 12 inches and they weigh almost 170 grams. These spiders are solitary creatures with a color that ranges between light to dark brown. As in the case of tarantulas these spiders too have large fangs that can break human skin and inflict bites with a depth of 0.75 to 1.5 inches. These fangs possess venom, but, are relatively harmless to humans. However, such bites may cause mild pain and swelling of the affected area.
he Goliath Birdeater, Theraphosa leblondi, is a tarantula, and it is the largest spider in the world. the Goliath Birdeater does not eat birds; it eats invertebrates such as crickets and mealworms, and also small vertebrates such as mice and lizards. Depends.
Are you judging by sheer size or by mass.
If you are going by size alone then the Giant Huntsman Spider of Laos is the largest.
If you factor in Mass, then the Goliath Birdeater of South America is the most massive (and the second largest behind the Giant Huntsman)
