Ok, so in general: Warmth causes your pores to open and coldness causes them to close.
If you want to minimize your pores, you first want to extract possible dirt in them which makes pores noticeable in the first place. The best way to do this is a weekly facial steam bath to open your pores and make the dirt and toxins come out, afterwards you gently (!) dab your face dry and apply a deep cleansing face mask, then you wash your face with lukewarm water. Take an ice cube and rub your face with it (also gently!). The cold makes your pores shrink and keeps any dirt out. After that moisturize your face with a water-based face cream. (Never oil-based)
Just make sure your face is always moisturized. Always use a sunscreen on hot sunny days, drink lots of water, eat lots of vegetables and fruits (especially citrus fruits), don't drink too much alcohol and DON'T smoke. Also make sure to always keep excess oil off your skin, cleanse your face twice a day.
(Generally use lukewarm water to wash your face, too hot water rather causes damage.)

Heat expands and relaxes the pores. Cold water closes the pores.
