I just bought a crab-apple tree from the nursery. It has red spots on the top of the leaves with 6 little tube things that go through to the bottom of the leaf. They appear to be holding the red spot on to the leaf. They are on almost all of the leaves. The tree is otherwise healthy. We pulled off one of the red spots. The leaf is dead just under the spot, but the rest of the leaf is healthy. What the heck is this? Sorry no pics. Should I bring it back?

sounds like apple rust this will look like yellow, orange or red spots on the leaves. This is a fungal disease that can be transmitted by other trees like cedars. Ive included a like that can help you if this is indeed rust. I cant know for sure without a picture though.

It sounds like the tree has aids.
