ok. so i have been using aloe vera gel (strait from the plant) on my face and back to get rid of acne, large pores, redness, ect. can yall tell me if its ok, and if its safe, and random things i need to know about this please. will this actually work? also, what are someother natural things that i can find around the house (or cheap at the supermarket) to minimize pores and smooth my skin. ( i use witch hazel as well) I am 16, and i have relatively large pores and wierd "not smooth" skin. it hurts to have this at my age cause i see all my friends with baby skin still and it sucks. im so jealous.

This will be perfectly safe as long as the plant isn't grown using systemic pesticides, that is, pesticides which the plant takes up into it's tissues in order to work. Other than that, the Aloe vera will be perfectly safe to use.
As for whether is will do anything is a matter of opinion, really. There is no conclusive evidence as to whether it has any effect on the skin or not, but the moisture in the gel is likely to moisturise your skin at the very least. It might be better to buy a skin cream or other cosmetic, but you could still give the Aloe a trial period to see if it helps at all.
