sqrt(9x4x5)..........
Hi, I'm just starting on simplifying radicals in my algebra 1 class, but I just can't seem to understand how to do any of it.

The problem is sqrt(180).

How do I simplify this? If you could show me step by step to get the answer, that'd be much appreciated! Thanks

Eyeball the number..Think of any number that is a perfect square that might go into it. Since the first 2 numbers are 18....It scream 9 to me:

break it up sqrt(9x20)..Hmmm I know that the factors of 20 are 4 and 5...and 4 is a perfect square so I will replace the 20 with 4x5:

sqrt(9x4x5)....Simplified the answer is 3x2sqrt(5) or 6sqrt(5)

hope this helps
