Is there a type of blindness where you can see in colors?
I don't mean colorblindness. I want to know if there is a type of blindness where instead of seeing physical objects and people, instead you would see colors and shapes.
Similar to how you would with thermal vision goggles.

Robert J say: There are two things I can think of:
A total lack of focus or clouded lens type effect, something like cataracts.
Or, something possibly similar to what you describe from a different source:
The optic nerves from the eyes each go to two different parts of the brain.
One part interprets "static" images - normal sight.
The other only picks up only movement, things that are changing. It's the part that alerts you to possible danger, at its most basic interpretation.
It is possible that if only that part is working, I suppose it's possible could learn to interpret the movement effects as vague shapes or colours?
I know for a fact that some people who are blind due to the normal vision part of their brain not working normally can still react to moving objects, but I don't know if they do produce any visual effect at all.

Para say: Rose tinted glasses see pretty faces - Thermal googles are eventually inverted colours - There are spirits and Namaste nematodes which see to it. (And will be named as such)
